Students: Join a Zoom meeting from Canvas
If your class is an online class with scheduled Zoom sessions or if your professor has informed the class that your regularly scheduled in person session will be on Zoom due to inclement weather or other scheduling changes, then you may be able to join your class meeting through the Zoom app in your course navigation.
Note: The following steps are for navigating Canvas using a web browser. The same options may not be available from within the Canvas Student mobile app, so you may need to use your web browser on your phone or computer in order to access your meeting join information.
- From your Canvas Dashboard, click on the course you will be joining via Zoom.

- If you don't see your course on the Dashboard, click Courses, then All Courses to see your full list of active courses. See Canvas' guide How do I customize my Courses list? for information on changing which courses are visible on the Dashboard.
- Click "Zoom" in the navigation menu of your course.
- After the Zoom page loads, you should see an "Upcoming Meetings" tab with the list of Zoom sessions for your course. Click the "Join" button next to the correct session.

- If you do not see the Zoom tab in your course or no meetings are listed under "Upcoming Meetings", please ask your professor for the join link or invitation details to your meeting.
- Your browser may pop-up a window asking you to confirm that you want to allow Zoom to open; click "Open Zoom Meetings" to continue.

- To avoid this message in the future, you can also check the box next to "Always allow nelboston.zoom.us to open links of this type in the associated app".
- If you do not see this pop-up and Zoom does not open, check your browser to see if pop-ups are being blocked. The steps for how to do this vary by browser, but many modern browsers indicate this with an icon in the address bar that shows what page you're on.
- The Zoom application should open on your computer and take you into your meeting. From this point, Zoom should function the same as it does when not using Canvas to join meetings.
