Managing Pinned links for your Community
Pinned links display in the right sidebar of your Community through a web browser and in the "About this community" screen through the Viva Engage mobile app. They can be a useful way to highlight specific resources, Community files, or external websites your members will need quick access to.
Adding Pinned links
Note: The functionality to add new links to the Pinned section of your Community may not be available when using the mobile app. You should be able to follow the instructions below using your mobile device's web browser instead.
- Access your group's Community page in Microsoft Viva Engage using your preferred web browser.
- Scroll down the page until you see the "Pinned" box in the right sidebar.

-
Note: If your browser window is small or you're using the browser on your mobile device, you may need to click the left pointing arrow icon at the top left of the page to see the additional information sidebar with the Pinned box.
- To the right of the word "Pinned", click the + icon.
- In the "Add a link" popup that opens, enter the link information.

-
Address: Enter the URL / link you'd like to pin
-
Title: Enter a descriptive name to help your members know what the link is.
-
Tip: It's best to keep this Title short and descriptive to make sure the important information is visible on small screens.
Note on Pinned link order
Unfortunately, it is not possible to reorder Pinned links after adding them. Newer pinned items will always appear below the older pinned items unless you delete and re-add them.
When you first setup your Community, we recommend taking a moment to plan out what items you'd like to pin and in what order you'd like them to appear.
Adding a Pinned link to your Community's files
- Click the "Files" tab at the top under your group's header and name.
- Click the three horizontal dots to the right of the New and Upload buttons.
- Click "Copy link" in the menu that opens.
- A window should pop up saying that the link was created. Click "Copy" to the right of the SharePoint link.

- By default, the link will be created with the "People with existing access can use the link" setting, which should restrict access to just the students who've joined your group. If you need to change this behavior, click the "Settings" button under the Copy button. The Share files and folders guide for SharePoint has more details about the different options you can set.
- If you encounter an error while sharing within your Community, try clicking "Open in SharePoint" to open the Community's document library in a new tab. The steps and options for copying a link should be the same.
- Follow the instructions under the "Adding Pinned links" header above to add the copied link as a Pinned resource.
