Students: How to access and complete course evaluations
Note: If you have blocked popups in your browser, please unblock them in order to complete your course evaluations successfully.
Course Evaluations are conducted at the end of each semester using Watermark Course Evaluations & Surveys (formerly EvaluationKIT). The evaluation period typically launches three weeks before the end of the semester and runs through the end of reading period, but this timing may change depending on the academic calendar.
Each evaluation will take on average 2 minutes to complete, and your feedback is extremely important to professors in planning for future courses. Feedback is also important for you as you reflect on your learning and progress throughout the semester. Your responses will be confidential and the faculty will only have access to aggregated results after the end of the semester.
Email notifications for course evaluations
When the evaluation period for the semester has opened, you will receive an email notification with your list of courses and unique login link. You will also receive reminders for any incomplete surveys until the evaluation period closes.
The email notifications will come from "Survey Administrator" with either notifications@watermarkinsights.com or sa@nesl.edu as the sending email address.
If you have technical questions, please submit a ticket for assistance rather than replying to the notifications.
Accessing course evaluations within Canvas
In addition to email notifications, you will also be able to access your evaluations through Canvas. When you open your Canvas courses, you may see a popup notification prompting you to complete your surveys. You can dismiss this popup to complete your surveys later or use it to access your surveys right away. If you don't see or dismiss this popup, you can also access your evaluations through the link in your course navigation menu when viewing Canvas through a browser or the Canvas mobile apps for iOS and Android. Note: The links for the Course Evaluation system will only be visible in your course's navigation when there is an active survey that you have yet to complete. If you don't see this link, evaluations may not be open yet or you've already previously completed your evaluation.
- Open your Canvas course in your browser of choice or the Canvas mobile app.
- Look for the "Student Course Evaluations" or "EvaluationKIT Course" links in your course navigation menu.

- In your browser, this link is dynamically added to the Canvas page, so it may take a moment to appear. If your browser security settings are strict, the link may not appear at all. In that case, please refer to the automated emails from the Survey Administrator account to access your surveys.
- The survey will open within the Watermark Course Evaluation website, where you will see confirmation of which course and instructor the survey is for. For courses that have multiple instructors, you will be prompted to complete a survey for each instructor.
- When you complete and submit the survey, you may see the course evaluations dashboard with a list of your other surveys to complete. You may either complete additional surveys now or return to them at any time while the evaluation period is open.
