Faculty: Overview of course evaluations
Course Evaluations are conducted at the end of each semester using Watermark Course Evaluations & Surveys (formerly EvaluationKIT). The evaluation period typically launches three weeks before the end of the semester and runs through the end of reading period, but this timing may change depending on the academic calendar.
Email notifications for course evaluations
When the evaluation period for the semester has opened, you will receive an email notification with the list of your courses that students will be prompted to submit feedback for.
The email notifications will come from "Survey Administrator" with either notifications@watermarkinsights.com or sa@nesl.edu as the sending email address.
If you have technical questions, please submit a ticket for assistance rather than replying to the notifications.
Ensuring students can access course evaluations within Canvas
Notes:
- The course evaluations link in Canvas won't be visible until the evaluation period for the semester has started.
- The link that students will see in Canvas is different from the link that you will see.
By default, the course evaluations link will be enabled in your course. While you won't be able to see the students' link, you can follow the steps below to confirm that it's visible to your students:
- Open your Canvas course in your browser of choice.
- In the course navigation menu, check for a link that says "Instructor Course Evaluations".

Note: Since this link gets added in after the page has loaded, it may take a few moments to be visible or appear in a different order within the navigation menu.
- If you don't see that link or would like additional confirmation, click Settings in your course navigation menu.
- At the top, click the Navigation tab.
- The top part of the Navigation page shows the list of menu items that are enabled for your students. Check the list for "EvaluationKIT Course".
- If EvaluationKIT Course is in the bottom part of the page instead, drag and drop it to the top or click the three dots to the right of it and click + Enable.
- At the bottom of the page, click Save to apply the changes.
What your students will see
Students have multiple ways to access and complete their course evaluations. In addition to the Canvas link mentioned above, they will also receive multiple email notifications with their survey information.

Viewing your course evaluation results
