Presenting in class from OneDrive

Whether you're a faculty member using PowerPoint as part of your teaching materials or a student preparing a presentation as part of an assignment, you can create and save your presentation in the cloud using Microsoft OneDrive with your NELB account. This will ensure that you always have access to your presentation while working on it home or presenting in the classroom.

Before class

Create your presentation using the web or desktop version of PowerPoint
Make sure your PowerPoint presentation is stored in your NELB OneDrive:
- If you're using an NELB machine issued to you or you've set up OneDrive sync: Save your presentation directly to OneDrive
- If you're on a public computer or a personal laptop: Upload your presentation through the web version of OneDrive
Open your Canvas course and check for "Office 365" in the course navigation.
- If your course does not have the Office 365 link, then the Microsoft Office 365 app may have been disabled. If you're the instructor of the course, you can edit the course navigation to make the app visible using the instructions in Customizing your Course Navigation. If you're a student, check the information in the "Other ways to access your files" section of this guide.

During class

The recommended way to access your OneDrive files during class is to open them through Canvas. Since both your NELB OneDrive and Canvas use your nesl.edu email address, logging into Canvas ensures that you're also are logged into OneDrive.

Important: When navigating applications like Canvas, OneDrive, and your nesl.edu email inbox, please be cautious not to show any private information such as grades, communication, or student assignment submissions on the screen in the classroom.

On the classroom computer, login to Canvas through your preferred web browser (ie, Chrome, Edge).

By default, your presentation will open in the web version of PowerPoint.
(Optional) If you have media files embedded in your presentation or if you prefer the interface of the desktop version of PowerPoint, click the Editing button towards the top right, then "Open in Desktop".
When you're ready, give your presentation using PowerPoint.

Other ways to access your files

If the OneDrive / Office 365 app is hidden in your Canvas course, you can access OneDrive directly by going to https://nesl-my.sharepoint.com/ in the browser on the classroom computer or by opening your nesl.edu email inbox and following the instructions in Switching between Microsoft 365 applications.
